Corvallis with the Halls!

February 17-26, 2012

I went to visit the Halls for nine days.  I flew in on a Friday.  They moved from Portland to Corvallis, OR in last November.  It was a very fun and relaxing trip.  Totally worth it!

Amber got a new camera, and is getting into photography.  She took a lot of pictures.  :o)

We went to Amber's favorite frozen yogurt place!

On Saturday, Amber and I played to go to the Temple in Portland, while Jason entertains the chillins.  When we got to the Temple, we realized that it was closed.  Bummer!

Jason was going to take Trey and Hailey to Chuck E. Cheese.  So, we all went.  It was pretty fun.  I hadn't been to Chuck E. Cheese since I was like seven.  Amber brought her camera.

Do I have a stalker?

Notice the scores.  I played softball when I was seven.  Hehe!

Later we all went to Powell's Books in downtown Portland.  It is the largest independently owned bookstore.  This flagship location takes up a whole city block and has over a million books.  Bookstore heaven!  It was really fun browsing!  I love to read and write!  And look at books and journals!

On Sunday, we had a picnic at OSU's recreation field.  It was great to have a nice sunny day (far and few between in Oregon) and enjoy the fresh air.

Amber and I went back to the Temple on Wednesday.  It was open this time.  Attending the temple felt like coming home.  I haven't been able to go since around Christmas time, and I have really missed it.  It is also exciting to go to a temple I have never been to before.

#15 Portland Oregon Temple!

This was the first temple to have been built in Oregon.  It was finished in 1989.  The land that the temple sits on was purchased in 1960, originally to be a church junior college.  The floor plan of this temple was adapted and later used for the Las Vegas Temple.  That explains why I felt the two temples seemed very similar.

On Thursday, Amber, Trey, Hailey and I went to Newport on the Oregon coast.  (Only about an hour from the Hall's home.)  We first went to the Hatfield Marine Science Center, OSU's aquarium.

"We all live in a yellow submarine..."
One of my favorite things about the aquarium is that it had a aquarium-style petting zoo, an open tide pool, where I could touch any sea creature I want!  We also got to watch the volunteer feed the turtle and frog.  That was cool!

What trip to Oregon would be complete without visiting the coast?  We spent some time playing on the beach.

Amber was on the committee for her Stake's Women's Conference.  On Friday, we went to a concert/fireside featuring Kendra Lowe and Sarah Wolfgramm.  It was really good.  They are very talented women.

We spent Saturday morning at Women's Conference.  It was lovely and spiritually uplifting.

I am really glad I made the trip to Corvallis!  I was wonderful seeing my sister and her husband, and my cutie niece and nephew.
